Halloween
What is Halloween?
Halloween is a celebration on the night of October 31. It is most practiced in the United States and Canada. Children wear costumes and go to people's homes saying "Trick or treat!" to ask for candy (sweets in the UK) and people give it to them. The suggestion is: "Give me a treat or I will play a trick on you." People mainly dress up as ghosts, witches, or other scary things for Halloween.
For Christians it is the eve of All Hallows' Day, which begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide. All Hallows' Eve is a Christianized feast influenced by Celtic harvest festivals, and pagan roots.
How do people celebrate Halloween?
Halloween activities include trick-or-treat, attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. In many parts of the world, the Christian religious observances of All Hallows' Eve, including attending church services and lighting candles on the graves of the dead, remain popular, although elsewhere it’s a more commercial celebration. Some Christians historically withdrew from meat on All Hallows' Eve, a tradition reflected in the eating of certain vegetarian foods on this vigil day, including apples, potato pancakes, and soul cakes.
Prima Halloween Celebration
After a survey had been done to see how many secondary students wanted Prima to celebrate and many students wanted one. So for Halloween Prima will have some candy, treats and fun and interesting things set up, as well other things arranged and for the students to enjoy in celebration of Halloween. Then, after school, we will go to a Halloween Party at British International School of Belgrade. The Halloween party is haunted house themed and there will be lots of amusing, exciting things to do there. To make things even more fun please come to school in a Halloween costume as it would make the Halloween celebration much better.
