School Clubs

Dear Readers,

Here we are again after one more pause. This can seem as a quiet time, but it is actually a period for preparation and thinking of the new, creative ways to express ourselves.

Due to other activities in the school, the clubs have not been very active recently. We’ve had a lot of breaks in the past month and not enough time to efficiently organize ourselves. We are still determined and committed to making our clubs lively and interesting.

The Current Affairs Club organized the celebration of the French holiday “Mardi Gras” as part of our initiative to introduce various cultures into our school life. Enjoy reading more about this lovely celebration in the separate article of this issue.

Recently, many members of the Current Affairs club have been busy preparing for the Belgrade International Model United Nations which is quickly approaching and we can’t wait to share our impressions about this event with you, since we had a wonderful experience in the past years.

Members of the Debate Club have also been busy with and unfortunately haven’t been able to hold a meeting in a while. However, we are back and ready to debate. Our topic this week is whether competition helps the learning process. We are going back to our original structure of three vs. three after experimenting with debates held between only two participants. It was really fun to do something differently than before, but we missed dynamism of group activities. So, dear friends from a debate club, who made a little break, we are happy to have you back and we are looking forward to our next topic.

It seems that our mates enjoy their time at chess club and scrabble club, as they always did. They organize regular meetings and the teachers can witness that they have learnt a lot throughout these activities. The game brings a lot of joy in developing further skills.

‘Till the next issue, with hopefully lot more news,
