Milica's Chronicle

Wake me up when September ends?

It's September. Just another month for some, a period of mixed up emotions for others. By others, I mean students who go back to school at that time after a never-long-enough summer break. And let me tell you, it is not easy, but it is also not the end of the world (although it may seem like it).

First day of school in Prima. For new students, it can be quite overwhelming but interesting at the same time. Here in Prima, we are accustomed to the fast pace of work, mainly due to the fact that the school staff does not like to waste the precious time we have until the exams start. Therefore, it is not uncommon to be bombarded by the teachers with homework, new lessons and exam materials, even on the first day. My tip for new students: get used to this as early as you can; you will thank your teachers later. I know how hard it can be being "the new student". Another tip: get out of your comfort zone; talk to people, make new friends, ask others for advice! Trust me, most of the students want to get to know you as much as you want to get to know them, so just make the first move if you want to make friends at your new school. Lunch breaks, school clubs and common rooms are some of the best ways to step out of your comfort zone and become integrated into the Prima community.

As for old students, you already know the drill. Study on time, do your best at school and be nice to others (even if you cannot bear being in their presence). The only thing that I will ask of you now is to be more involved in the school life. If you want some changes at Prima, make them. School clubs do not exist just for teachers to have something to do in their spare time; they exist for us, the students. Make a full use out of them and it will surprise you how engaged you will be in those extracurricular, once you start getting into what you are doing.

Every school year in Prima is different. I am really interested in seeing what this new year is going to bring. That does not only depend on me, nor on the school staff. It depends on you. You decide how much work you are going to put into the school life and school obligations, therefore you shape Prima. That is why I hope you will make this year the best so far.

Till next time,

Milica
